According to UL's announcement, the UL62275 standard will officially come into effect on February 26, 2013. At that time, CableTies or similar fixing devices (whether listed or approved by UL, metal, polymer, or mixed materials) that have been evaluated according to UL1565 standards need to undergo an industrial record review process to determine whether they comply with the new UL62275 standard.

UL62275 is based on the IEC62275 standard, which references relevant structural standards such as IEC, ISO, NFPA, and integrates the differences between countries such as the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It has been adopted as a national standard by institutions such as ANSI (American National Standards Institute), SCC (Canadian Standards Council), and ANCE (Mexican National Certification Body). The current UL62275 standard is the first edition and officially came into effect on February 26, 2013. The deadline for archive review is November 1, 2012. UL will no longer accept audit requests after the deadline. After the new standard takes effect, unapproved UL archives/certificates will be revoked.

According to the CPPIC-PWAC Plastic Wiring Equipment Professional Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA), the demand for plastic wiring equipment (such as zip ties, wire cards, positioning pieces, wire pressing caps, number tubes, winding tubes, etc.) in China is increasing at a rate of over 30% per year. At present, there are more than 100 plastic wiring equipment production enterprises in China, of which more than 80 are gathered in the Leqing area of Wenzhou. There are more than 40 large-scale enterprises, and there are seven or eight with an annual output value of over 100 million yuan. According to UL statistics, as of the end of March 2012, there were a total of 13 UL files for wire ties in Zhejiang Province, involving 11 enterprises. Currently, none of them have completed the standard version replacement work.

Given the approaching deadline for archive review and the effective date of the new standards, Wenzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds all relevant enterprises to attach great importance to this announcement, immediately prepare, and file archive review applications with UL as soon as possible to avoid affecting the effectiveness of certification and market sales performance.
